German-French Planning Seminar 2001

Regional development, tourism and cooperation in the department of Pyrénées Atlantiques/French Basque Country

From 15 to 23 September 2001, the Institute for Regional Planning and Spatial Research and the C.E.S.A. of the University of Tours organized the annual German-French Planners' Seminar. This year the seminar and excursion led to the French Basque Country, especially to the conurbation BAB (Bayonne, Anglet, Biarritz), to the Pyrenees to St. Etienne and Ortoloppiz and the border to San Sebastian. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. Hans Günter Barth and Dr. Frank Scholles as well as Prof. Bernard Leroi and Prof. Dr. Eric Thomas, 44 students from the two universities learned about regional management, urban development policy, urban renewal, development in rural mountain regions, viticulture, tourism and cross-border planning.
