Regional development, tourism and nature conservation in Languedoc-Roussilon

From 18 to 24 September 1999, the Institute for Regional Planning and Spatial Research and the C.E.S.A. of the University of Tours organized the annual German-French Planners' Seminar. This year the seminar and excursion led to the region Languedoc-Roussillon, especially to Carcassonne, Leucathe, Port Vendres, the Corbières and the nature park Haut Languedoc. Under the direction of Prof.Dr.Dr. H.G. Barth, Dr. Frank Scholles as well as Prof. Bernard Leroi, 44 students of the two universities informed themselves about urban development policy, the use of the Canal du Midi, development in rural areas, ecological agriculture, mass tourism as well as more sustainable forms of tourism, viticulture and nature conservation.
