Although support for the energy transition is growing, local renewable energy projects are often met with criticism or resistance. In order to accelerate the expansion, it is crucial to take nature, landscape protection and public participation into equal consideration.
Instead of restricting opportunities for participation, new formats are needed to actively and responsibly involve community members in shaping the local energy landscape. Julia Thiele, Jule Kinzinger and Christina von Haaren from the Institute for Environmental Planning have therefore developed the digital dialog tool Vision:En, which is based on findings from behavioural science. An article about it has now been published in the May issue of the journal “Natur und Landschaft”.
