Abstract

The numerical simulation of welding processes belongs to the state of the art for conventional structural steels in dry conditions. It is a proven method for the planning of welding work. For the design of hyperbaric wet welded joints no application of numerical simulations has been found, so far. This is due to the lack of knowledge regarding the specific boundary conditions of a wet welding environment, such as the heat transfer between workpiece and water or the material behaviour at highest cooling rates. The work presented shows viable solutions to implement the peculiarities of hyperbaric wet welding into simulation programs.
