Erfassung und Bewertung der kulturellen Ökosystemleistung Naherholung in Deutschland

Abstract

In densely populated countries such as Germany, local recreation is regarded as an ecosystem service which is of particular health, social and economic importance. This article presents an approach to map and assess the cultural ecosystem service “local recreation” on a national level. First, the suitability of the landscape for recreation as an indicator for supply is looked at. Secondly, the utilization pressure by the population is used as an indicator for demand. Supply and demand are depicted and overlaid cartographically. Thus, the suitability for local recreation in context with the local recreation pressure is made comparable on a nationwide scale and useful recommendations for policy and planning can be derived.
