In April, Maren Kleinau joined the Spatial Planning and Regional Development working group led by Prof. Dr. Rainer Danielzyk.
Her research focuses on place branding in large-scale protected areas, an increasingly widespread phenomenon in Europe that holds potential for sustainable regional development. In this context, she not only evaluates this potential but also addresses questions of governance, as well as the diffusion and re-invention of the concept internationally. In her teaching, she brings an economic perspective into spatial development, aligning it with nature conservation.
Maren holds an M.A. in Sustainability Economics and Management, focusing on eco-entrepreneurship as well as environmental and spatial planning, from the University of Oldenburg, and an M.A. in Marketing and Sales from the FHDW Hannover.
