The aim of the event was to discuss key issues relating to future regional development and to provide initial impetus for the process of updating the regional plan.
After the opening address by Jens Palandt, First Regional Councillor of the Hanover Region, there were welcoming speeches and a technical overview of the status of the update. Three thematic blocks then offered insights into key areas of regional planning: socio-ecological transformation, issues of regional resilience, and the importance of regional development approaches for town centres and open spaces. Contributions from experts in research and planning practice were complemented by moderated panel discussions, which provided an opportunity for exchange with representatives of local politics and administration.
The event concluded with an outlook on the next steps in the RROP updating process. The informal exchange that followed provided an opportunity to deepen discussions and establish contacts.
The Institute for Environmental Planning at Leibniz University Hannover supported the conception of the event. Prof. Dr. Rainer Danielzyk and Dr. Lena Greinke moderated two of the thematic blocks and accompanied the technical discussions.
